2019 Religion Intra School Moderation P-10 (CTJ)
Moderating student work against the relevant achievement standard of the Religion Curriculum P-12

“The schools and colleges of the Archdiocese of Brisbane aspire to educate and form students who are challenged to live the gospel of Jesus Christ and who are literate in the Catholic and broader Christian tradition so that they might participate critically and authentically in faith contexts and wider society.” (Vision for BCE Religious Education)

In 2019, teachers in Years P-10 engage in moderation of student work against the relevant achievement standard in Religion.  For intra school moderation each school is asked to moderate a minimum of two (2) annotated student work samples  from each year level (P-10) using the same assessment task / opportunity from each year level including:
  • one (1) sample that reflects the expected standard
  • one (1) sample that reflects above the expected standard
These samples may come from either Term Two or Term Three.

Cover Sheet for Student Samples

Assessing student learning is an integral part of the school classroom. It improves learning and informs teaching. It is the process through which teachers identify, gather and interpret information about student achievement and learning in order to improve, enhance and plan for further learning.  (Please refer to BCE Learning and Teaching – Assessing learning)

It is important that teachers engage in professional dialogue to develop assessment opportunities which
  • align with the element/s of the achievement standard being addressed
  • enable students to demonstrate a greater depth of conceptual understanding, a sophistication of skills and an ability to apply essential knowledge
  • engage students in collaborative inquiry
  • reflect the Principles of Assessment:Assessment is valid, equitable, aligned and evidence-based

There needs to be strong alignment between the element/s of the achievement standard and the related knowledge, understanding and skill of the related content descriptions across strands. An analysis of the Achievement standard, year level description and relevant core content descriptions will provide guidance on the selection of appropriate learning contexts across interrelated strands, as well as appropriate learning intentions and success criteria.
